Engr.Delano has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. He started his career with Shell and later joined Texaco, where over 20 years, he held various positions of increasing responsibilities in Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago and in the United States of America. After leaving Texaco, he was a Senior Researcher at University of Houston Institute of Energy, Law & Enterprise providing leadership on Commercial Frameworks for LNG in North America.

He joined Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in 2005, as the Group General Manager responsible for Corporate Planning and Development. He was responsible for driving projects of strategic national interest like the Gas Master Plan, Structured Financing Strategy for the Exploration and Production (E & P) Joint Venture companies and the NNPC LNG Strategy. Subsequently he was appointed the Managing Director and CEO of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Ltd (NPDC), the NNPC E & P subsidiary company where he implemented the takeover of the operatorship of the 70,000 bopd Okono-Okpoho offshore fields from Agip Energy and Natural Resources (AENR) to NPDC in January 2007.

As a consultant, he has provided advisory and consulting services on natural gas monetization, LNG and natural gas supply projects to gas buyers and to lenders. He provided advisory services to clients worldwide on LNG procurement, project development, market due diligence and LNG pricing and market strategies. He worked on commercial aspects of Cameroon LNG and the Equatorial Guinea LNG Train 2.

He designed and teaches the postgraduate course in Natural Gas Economics for Masters and PhD students as an adjunct professor at the Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

He has authored and co-authored technical publications on natural gas and LNG including the recently published Natural Gas and LNG Handbook – Understanding Natural Gas and LNG Options, sponsored by the US Department of Energy.

Engr. Delano attended Igbobi College, Yaba. He holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan, MBA from the University of Lagos and M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston.
