Michael Sergeant is a construction lawyer, specialising in energy and infrastructure projects. He advises on procurement but primarily works with clients during the course of a project, when problems arise or claims are brought. He has advised over the years on a wide range of energy projects, including FPSOs, hydro-electric schemes and off-shore wind farms. Michael has over 20 years’ experience and in that time has worked in various jurisdictions, including in West Africa and the Middle East. He has worked on some very significant claims for a range of large multi-nationals, including disputes in excess of $1 billion. Michael worked as a partner at a specialist construction law practice for a number of years before joining Holman Fenwick Willan as a partner in 2013. He is a regular speaker at construction law conferences and is the author of Construction Contract Variations, which is due to be published in May 2014. He is also a guest lecturer at CWC School for Energy’s “Negotiating Oil & Gas Contracts – Advanced Master Class”.
